Christine Zmuda is an abstract expressionist and intuitive painter. Largely self-taught, Christine uses acrylic paint, charcoal, and oil sticks to put on canvas what she feels through music. Playing music and abstract painting are symbiotic and interdependent to her creative process. Influences include abstract painters like Basquiat, Jackson Pollack, and Hiroshi Matsumoto. Christine listens and embraces a wide range of music for inspiration to include Billie Holiday, Otis Redding, Andrea Bocelli, Chrissy Hynde, Beck, Iggy Pop, Pegboy, Cake, Beastie Boys, The Rolling Stones, and a host of indie artists like Lord Huron. Courtney Barnett, Middle Kids, My Morning Jacket, Avett Brothers and Vance Joy.
Color is an engrossing part of her process, seeking to explore color combinations that intrigue the senses and reveal something unexpected. Simply said, Christine’s abstract art can be seen as one-part mischief, two parts natural curiosity and three parts a heaping desire to experience all life has to offer. This is thematic through Christine's art and her approach to life.
